APEX Geoscience Ltd.  is recruiting for the position of: Accounting Assistant working with and reporting to our Senior Accountant. The successful candidate will perform full-cycle accounting that includes: A/R, A/P, payroll, employee expenses, foreign currency, source deductions, GST returns, and data entry.

We are looking to fill either a part-time (approx. 3 days/wk) or a full-time position. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The initial contract will be for 6 months with the possibility for contract extension. This position will be based in APEX’s office located in northwest Edmonton, AB.

Qualifications

  • Bookkeeping and/or Accounting certification or equivalent work experience
  • Must have a good knowledge of accounting principles and a clear understanding of debits and credits with three (3) or more years of work experience.
  • Digital skill set must include good to excellent proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel.

More specifically, job responsibilities will include:

  • Organizing, reconciling and categorizing employee expenses on a project basis
  • Understanding and calculating various provincial taxes, GST & HST
  • Working with currency conversions for foreign expenses
  • Administering new employee setup in Quickbooks
  • Accurate data entry in Quickbooks relating to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, employee expenses, credit cards and timesheets
  • Completing WCB registration and reporting in various jurisdictions
  • Answering telephones, filing, shipping and other miscellaneous administrative tasks

    • Accounting and Reporting, Problem Solving, Processing and Recording, Reconciliation and Analysis.
    • Bookkeeping, accounting principles, standards, and best practices of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong organizational, time management skills with an excellent ability to adapt to changing requirements
  • Knowledge and adherence to strict client and business confidentiality protocols and privacy requirements.
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Professional and respectful interpersonal skills
  • A strong commitment to delivering exceptional and professional customer service.
