About the Opportunity

APEX Geoscience Ltd. currently has exciting opportunities for multiple Project Geologists to join our team for contract employment on a variety of field based mineral exploration projects within Canada and potentially abroad. Successful candidates will be working on project rotations of various lengths, common rotation schedules include 4 weeks on/10 days off or 6 weeks on/2 weeks off. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered. 

Working closely with the Program Manager, successful candidates will be expected to plan and execute mineral exploration projects to meet client needs. Project management will require being familiar with relevant mineral exploration equipment along with previous experience using ArcGIS/QGIS, 3D modelling packages and the Microsoft Office Suite of programs.

More specifically, your responsibilities include:

  • Being accountable for project operations and overseeing employee safety
  • Ensuring all safety procedures are followed, including adhering to COVID-19 protocols and emergency response plans
  • Planning appropriate exploration programs to meet client needs and determining exactly what work needs to be completed (sampling, drilling, geophysics, mapping, etc.)
  • Working closely with managers to ensure adequate staffing for all projects
  • Organizing project logistics such as field supplies and travel arrangements for all crew members
  • Traveling to field projects with crew members and supervising day-to-day crew operations
  • Completing required field tasks as well as assigning and delegating tasks to crew members and ensuring work meets APEX standards
  • Encouraging and developing employee skill levels while providing effective leadership to build a strong team culture
  • Interacting with land owners, clients, crew members and other team members on a regular basis
  • Liaising with drill contractors when needed
  • Working with analytical laboratories to arrange sample analysis and data transfer
  • Performing routine inspections and ensuring equipment is properly maintained and stored
  • Completing project debriefs, writing summary reports and additional project reports required
  • Compiling data, completing data analysis and interpretation to coordinate program planning for ongoing projects

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you must have 5-8 years of mineral exploration field experience, and a Geology/Earth Sciences Bachelors of Science degree (or higher) from an accredited university. You must hold a valid Driver's License, and possess satisfactory knowledge of processes and equipment used in mineral exploration, including software experience in ArcGIS/QGIS and 3D modelling packages, and have experience running sampling and drilling programs. In addition, experience in field exploration project management and project planning is required. Previous experience managing a small team of up to 10 employees would be an asset.
